2023 BMW X3 Rumors about the X8 initially appeared around 2017. However, it was only last August that BMW Chairman, Oliver Zipse, indirectly confirmed the new flagship SUV.
Another “high-end car” will be launched later this year. And, given that it will be built at the Spartanburg plant, it’s almost certainly an SUV. Because, the factory in South Carolina is where the X3 to X6 models were born, complete with their M versions, plus the X7.
You’ve probably seen the spy photo of the X8 prototype which is a bit worrying. Now, a new rendering from Kolesa is trying to digitally remove its camouflage to reveal the controversial design.
From split headlights to stacked exhaust tips, this BMW X8 (or XM?) is likely to provoke a different reaction. There’s no middle ground, you either love it or hate how it looks – maybe even more polarizing than the iX.
While the X8 may not get the kind of vertical grille like the iX and other recent BMW models, the sheer size of the grille still makes the front fascia of this high-end SUV stand out.
The artist behind this rendering has apparently forgotten to add a fuel cap – and there should have been two – as rumors suggest the Luxo barge will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Carrying the code name “Project Rockstar”, the X8/XM is said to be the most powerful SUV in the history of the Bavarian brand.
It combines a V8 engine with an electric motor for a total output that is predicted to exceed the 700 horsepower mark for the hotter version of the Competition.
There is no doubt that the car will use the xDrive only drive system. However, we will not rule out the possibility of a Drift Mode for 0.1 percent of owners who want to go crazy with this large, heavyweight SUV.
The BMW X8 will be lined up as the sportiest X model, so they may get rid of the third row – seen on the X7 – in favor of reducing weight.
The sloping roofline indicates limited headroom at the rear. However, BMW has been giving a lot of surprises lately, so it’s hard to accurately predict what they’re up to.
The fact that there is an upcoming SUV positioned above the X7 is also quite surprising. Nothing else is known about the X8, but Zipse told CNBC that it will be a “luxury new model for many markets around the world.”
Given that it’s a 2023 model year, we expect the official reveal and sales to begin next year.
2023 BMW X3 Review
New BMW X3 2023 is a compact luxury SUV with two rows of seating for 5 people and a choice of turbocharged engines that range from powerful and fuel-efficient, to downright sports car in terms of how the powertrain rockets the X3 off the beaten track.
Look for the 2023 X3 which has only minor color and trim changes, especially as this nimble little SUV stays fresh from last year’s model mid-cycle refresh.
This latest update includes subtle changes to the front and rear of this luxury SUV, namely a rework of the front grille and exterior lighting. The larger grille is the most polarizing feature, although it brings the X3’s exterior look on par with the rest of BMW’s lineup.
This refresh certainly helps the BMW X3 2023 to keep up with a number of rivals, including the Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, Volvo XC60, Lexus NX, Lincoln Corsair, and Infiniti QX50. This is a very competitive segment, and standing still is not an option.
Exterior modifications are complemented by cabin updates centered on additional technologies and a larger screen. The X3 has a 10.3-inch infotainment screen along with a 5.1-inch display located in the center of the driver gauge cluster.
If that’s not enough for you, BMW offers an optional 12.3-inch digital gauge display, plus a 12.3-inch display for the infotainment system. BMW revamped the overall design of the dashboard itself and added updated controls for the audio system, along with standard tri-zone climate control equipment.
One thing we hope to remain the status quo for the 2023 X3 is what options lie under the hood. Look for the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) X3 sDrive30i and all-wheel-drive (AWD) xDrive30i which come with a 248-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
2023 BMW X3 Plug In Hybrid
For the 2022 model year, BMW decided to eliminate the plug-in hybrid model 2023 BMW X3 30e xDrive30e from the US range from the previous version’s mediocre 18 miles.
Next up is the 2023 BMW X3 M40i, which is powered by a 3.0-liter inline-6 turbocharged engine coupled to a 48-volt mild hybrid system. It delivers a total of 382 horsepower to all four wheels, thanks to standard AWD equipment. An 8-speed automatic is also installed and provides smooth and sharp gearshifts.
Last but certainly not least — both in terms of price and performance — the X3 M offers SUV buyers seeking an inline-6 turbocharged performance a total of 473 to 503 horsepower. This last number is what you get in the Manic Competition version.
Hit the gas pedal and you only need 4.0 seconds to go from zero to 60 mph.
2023 BMW X3 Report: Is There A New BMW X3 Coming Out
BMW XM 2023 will be introduced at the end of this year. The car will not enter production until December 2022 while the market introduction is scheduled for 2023. There will be three different models available with the top one being a plug-in hybrid V8 that will produce at least 750 horsepower. Ahead of the official launch, rendering artists are trying to guess the design of the future top M SUV.
This latest Photoshop image is from @kelsonic and auto.mail.ru. The new BMW XM Photoshop image follows the same lines as previous attempts: split headlights, a large kidney grille with horizontal slats, and a super aggressive front bumper. Moreover, we know that this new BMW XM will have a completely unique exhaust pipe arrangement.
Instead of the side-by-side circular quad exhausts of almost all M cars of the past, the BMW XM will get a stacked quad exhaust, with a weird hexagonal design.
The internal name is said to be “Project Rockstar” which clearly implies the worst and most powerful SUV of the range: a staggering 552 kW / 750 PS (740 hp). Two other XM PHEV models are also part of the new XM family. One of the six-cylinder hybrid XM models will produce 460 kW / 625 PS (617 hp). They will also come up with unique name designations, but more on that later.
BMW will build the new vehicle at its Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, according to CNBC with BMW CEO Oliver Zipse. “At the end of the year, we’ll be making an announcement to build another high-end car from this manufacturing site,” Zipse told CNBC’s Phil LeBeau.
“This is not a successor model, it is a new, high-end model for the American market but also for the world market.” The Spartanburg plant currently manufactures the BMW X3, X4, X5, X6, and X7 as well as the corresponding M SUV models, so it’s only natural that the production line is expanded to include the XM as well.
2023 BMW X3 Redesign
We’re usually disappointed when a concept transitions to a production model, but in the case of the BMW XM, we felt we would prefer road vehicles to show-off cars. Slightly less flashy than the Concept XM that was unveiled last month, the unofficial rendering from Kolesa envisages what buyers will be able to find from late 2022 at their local BMW dealership.
Don’t expect any major changes from the production model as the Bavarian marque has announced the final car will retain about 90 percent of the concept’s styling. The remaining 10 percent has been speculatively implemented in this third-party rendering to show a plug-in hybrid SUV with regular door handles and a less aggressive front bumper.
The front design with split headlights is certainly bold, but we found the rear more controversial due to the very wide taillights and stacked exhaust tips featuring an angular design. The concept’s two-tone wheel has largely been kept, but instead of the large “BMW” letters, the center cap now contains the regular roundel.
The sharp side mirror caps of the Concept XM have paved the way for a more conventional M-specific set, while the dark top character line has been removed.
The same goes for the dark-colored stickers on the side skirts, which now have metal/chrome inserts in the same tone as the shiny areas on the wheels. As pictured here, we’ll be taking the XM away from the previous concept car, and we’d argue it will look less radical with the larger taillights and with the regular quad exhaust.
As always, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. One thing is for sure: The 2023 XM will be BMW’s most powerful production car yet by including a plug-in hybrid setup with a V8 and an electric motor that will produce around 750 horsepower. Meanwhile, the M5 CS boasts the crown of power with a robust 626 hp without the help of a hybrid.
The second special M model after the iconic mid-engined M1 will go into production late next year at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, where BMW makes the X3 to X7 SUVs alongside their M counterparts.
BMW X3 Facelift 2023
If we look back where we can see the changes that have occurred to the BMW X3 Facelift which is painted in Frozen Drak Gray Metallic color which is a success story since its launch in 2003 the BMW X3 has sold more than 1.1 million customers worldwide.

Just like the previous model the BMW X3 xDrive30d has an outstanding combination of performance, efficiency, and long-range compatibility coupled with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine producing 286 hp that accelerates the mid-range SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. with an average top speed of 245 km/h is impressive.
It doesn’t stop there, the use of a 48V mild-hybrid system can be felt that the performance of the BMW X3 xDrive30d has a consumption of 6.2 to 7.0 liters in the WLTP cycle and if you want to increase performance, the best option falls on the X3 M40d with 340 hp.
In the end, we really hope that the 2023 BMW X3 Facelift can be one of the best models that can attract consumers’ attention, has a good interior space, and a pleasant and premium ride.
2023 BMW X3M
2023 BMW X3M With agility and speed more akin to a sleek sports car than a chunky crossover, the 2022 BMW X3 M has the power to crush expectations. The facade looks fiercer than the more familiar BMW X3 that it’s based on, and once the driver flattens the M accelerator or turns it into a fast corner, the performance gap between the two will be confirmed.
With a tunable twin-turbo straight-six engine that produces up to 503 horsepower and an all-wheel-drive system that puts that power to the ground (and allows the booty ute to slide in rear-drive drift mode), the X3 M is either entertaining or downright entertaining. scary, depending on the skill level of the driver and respect for physics. The adult-friendly rear seats and ample cargo space also make it more practical than most other BMW M cars.
The 2022 X3 M’s only major drawbacks are its too-fast ride and over-complicated drive mode settings, but the penalty is nothing compared to its excellent performance.
For 2022, BMW delivers the high-performance X3 M even higher thanks to new engine tuning and internal components from the M3 sedan and M4 coupe. While horsepower ratings remain the same, the regular X3 M now makes 457 pound-feet (up 13), and the Competition variant delivers 479 pound-feet (up 37).

Inside, the cabin has received several restyled design elements and updated switchgear. Drivers are now faced with a 12.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster, and the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen replaces the old 10.3-inch unit.
With a model to choose from and a starting price of over $70,000, we wanted the extra power and upgraded equipment that comes with the Competition package. It adds a standard sports exhaust system mesh and 21-inch black alloy wheels, as well as a glossy black grille and mirror cap (compared to the 20s on the regular M).
Interior upgrades include a different “M” emblem, more supportive front seats, and richer Merino leather. Among the many options, we also choose the Executive and M Driver packages.
The former adds redundant luxuries like a head-up display, heated steering wheel, gesture control, panoramic sunroof, self-parking assistance, and wireless smartphone charging. The latter unlocks a higher top speed (177 mph versus 155) and a day of professional driving lessons.

2023 BMW X3M Engine, Transmission, and Performance
This 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder twin-turbo crossover is as smooth as its power. The BMW factory has been massaged by the M performance division to produce between 473 and 503 horsepower and between 457 and 479 pound-feet of torque. Extra power is reserved for the Competition model, which also adds a standard sports exhaust system and 21-inch alloy wheels.
Each X3 M comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system that can send 100 percent of the engine’s torque to the rear wheels when needed.
The M Competition 2020 X3 we tested was absurdly fast and surprisingly agile for what it is. It ripped to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, closed the gap between 50 and 70 mph in 3.1 ticks, and completed the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds at 119 mph. For context, the 2016 M3 Competition sedan is significantly slower than the SUV in the first and last steps.
The X3 M also stops at 70 mph at the same 146 feet as the sedan and surrounds our skidpad with an impressive 0.97 g of grip. While the insane crossover is too hardcore for most people to appreciate on a daily basis, its standard adaptive dampers provide a fairly soft ride in the softest of settings.
And the thick-framed steering wheel sends a respectable amount of feedback, with steering never stopping us from enjoying its impressive bottom line.
2023 BMW X3M Real-World Fuel Economy and MPG
The X3 M with or without the Competition pack is expected to deliver 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. Those numbers are well below its rivals such as the 505-hp Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio (with 17 and 23 mpg, respectively) and the 469-hp (16 and 22 mpg) Mercedes-AMG GLC63 SUV (16 and 22 mpg). However, Bimmer performs better in the real world.
On our 75-mph highway fuel-efficient route, which was part of our extensive testing regimen, the X3 M surpassed the government highway rating by 7 mpg (26 mpg total). In comparison, we looked at 20 mpg in the GLC63 SUV and 21 in the Stelvio QF, both of which missed their highway ratings by 2 mpg. 2023 BMW X3M Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The 2022 X3 M shares an updated interior design with the regular X3, which has also been slightly restyled inside and out. The full M version enjoys more standard luxury features and exclusive details. The latter mainly consists of an “M” badge, a red drive mode dial on the steering wheel, and aggressively reinforced front seats. The Competition Package features a sturdier front seat.
Throughout the cabin, attractive materials demonstrate BMW’s adherence to high-end aesthetics. Along with this crossover’s standard leather upholstery and selectable interior accents, BMW has provided a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, 14-way powered front seats, adjustable ambient interior lighting, and heated front seat cushions.
Still not majestic enough? Buyers can opt for smoother leather and a number of premium options, including a head-up display, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, and rear side window coverings. There’s plenty of passenger space for all, as well as plenty of cargo space.
We managed to fit seven carry-on luggage behind the X3’s rear seat and 20 with the seatbacks folded. Buyers of the mechanically similar X4 M will give some of that space to the model’s dramatically angled rear.
2023 BMW X3M Infotainment and Connectivity
Each X3 M is equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that offers a variety of control methods. In addition to touchscreen capabilities, BMW provides physical volume knobs in the center stack and controls on the steering wheel. There is also a rotary controller on the center console surrounded by hotkeys.
Popular standard features include a 16-speaker Harman/Kardon stereo, built-in navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, Wi-Fi hotspot, and charging ports throughout the cab. Those who want more bells and whistles can add gesture control and wireless charging through the comprehensive Executive package.
2023 BMW X3 Price
We expect the 2023 BMW X3 to start at around $ 44,000 for the entry-level sDrive30i model and $ 46,000 if you want the added grip that the xDrive30i with AWD provides.
The sports M40i should cost around $ 57,000. While not cheap, it is consistent with many rival luxury compact SUVs. The move to the X3 M line remains the budget-saving option for the X3 2023 line.
That’s because this wild performance SUV is expected to cost around $ 70,000 per copy or around $ 25,000 more than the excellent base model. After all, there aren’t many SUVs that can make sports cars and muscle cars chase your money when the light turns green.
