2023 BMW 7 Series Redesign is working on a redesign for the 7 Series and a new prototype has already been spotted. The seventh-generation flagship is set to debut in 2022 as the 2023 model. The latest prototypes are for variants equipped with internal combustion engines, and one of them is a plug-in hybrid.
The prototype is very well camouflaged especially the finer details such as the headlights, grille, and C-pillar. Interestingly, it looks like the headlights will take on the split design that will be a new feature of BMW. We can also see the exhaust design in some of the shots.
In some shots, you will also see a rear-facing camera mounted on each of the front fenders and there are more cameras and sensors visible on the front grille. It will likely support a planned driver assistance feature, as well as a self-driving system rated Level 3 on the SAE scale for autonomous vehicles.
Level 3 means a car that can handle itself under certain conditions, allowing the driver to let go of the wheel and even take his eyes off the road for a moment. However, it still requires the driver to be ready to take back control at a moment’s notice.
You’ll also notice that the top of the grille is completely covered and is higher than the headlights, as on the current 7 Series.
Underpinning the redesigned 7-Series will be an updated version of the current-generation CLAR platform designed to support multiple powertrain types, including battery-electric powertrains like the ones we’ll see in the i7 (the platform also supports the new i4).
Another notable change is the addition of rear-axle steering, which was introduced by rival Mercedes-Benz S-Class for the 2021 redesign.
Some form of electrification should be featured on every model in the lineup, meaning we’re likely to see mild hybrids on offer in addition to plug-in hybrids and battery-electric powertrains. A V-8 in a mild-hybrid configuration is a sure bet but the jury is still out on whether the V-12 will stay. However, a senior BMW executive recently said in 2019 the company had no plans to abandon the big engine.

BMW’s 3.0-liter turbo is expected to produce 270 hp in the 735i and 370 hp in the 740i. For reference, the current 740i makes 335 hp, so this would be a healthy power boost.
Sitting above the 740i, the new 750i will reportedly be powered by a new V8 producing 535 hp with hybrid assistance. Spy shots also reveal an all-electric BMW i7 is in the works. With a rumored 650 hp output, the i7 will be the most powerful 7 Series ever. The new BMW 7 Series is expected to debut in late 2022 or early 2023 but could be previewed with the concept next year.

This discussion will always attract flagships arriving as it usually ushers in new technology and design cues flowing to the lower-end models of the range. That will be the case with the G70 7 Series by adopting a revamped powertrain and controversial separate headlight setup.

A smooth 6.6-liter twin-turbo that does just as well but with fewer emissions and lower fuel consumption.
No exterior has changed drastically, the new 7 Series will get BMW’s latest iDrive 8 with side-by-side screens incorporated into one slightly curved housing and the new 2 Series Active Tourer has lost the iDrive knob, a spy shot of the interior of the top-range car.
