2022 BMW X5 is a versatile player in the midsize luxury SUV segment, combining a well-appointed interior and an enjoyable driving experience in one attractive package. Even the entry-level models are equipped with modern technology and comfort features, not to mention the silky smooth inline six-cylinder engine.
Upgrading to a plug-in hybrid model gives the X5 the ability to drive on electric power only for short trips while the optional twin-turbo V-8 engine delivers very strong acceleration. The inside may not be as luxurious as the Genesis GV80, nor is it as athletic as the Porsche Cayenne, but when compared to SUVs like the Audi Q7 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE class, the X5’s roundness is evident.
The X5 is a sports vehicle that can accommodate up to seven passengers, but five passengers will appreciate a more luxurious ride. It competes with backers of luxury SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz GLE and with newcomers like the Genesis GV80.
The X5 has won the 5-Series and 3-Series as the best BMW. This balances the convenience with the readiness of innovative technology with the complexity of the sophistication of performance and efficiency by using the xDrive45e. BMW brings the X5 excellence, comfort, and quality that meets what most buyers need from a luxury SUV.

2022 BMW X5M
The X5 M 2022 competition has changed the pack and is missing important features. In 1999, BMW launched the first X5, a pioneer in the SUV segment internally known as the E53; it is contemporary to the E46 3 Series and E39 5 Series and is one of BMW’s most iconic designs. It was replaced by the E70 X5 in 2006 and then another model in 2013 before being replaced by the current 2018 X5.
Ahead of the curve as ever, in 2009, BMW launched the X5M; powered by a 4.4-liter V8 engine, the X5 M was one of the first four-four cars on the market and is capable of 171 mph when equipped with the M driver package as noted by the Car Catalog. The X5 M isn’t the first X5 to be powered by the incredibly powerful engine that the car originally launched with a 4.8-liter V8 option, however, it’s not a full M car with just two exhausts, 360 hp, and a relatively slow 6.1 seconds to sixty.
Typical of the M division, the X5 M comes with the iconic four exhausts as well as some sportier bodywork, but the resemblance to the standard car is much closer than in the current M range of cars such as the G80 M3 by model. a completely different front fascia to the current 3 Series.
The current X5 M Competition is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that makes 625 hp, 553 lb-ft of torque and accelerates the 5,313 lbs car to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. The competition has 25 hp more than it’s, for no better word, the X5 M’s “regular” sibling.
Just a decade ago, these numbers would rival the likes of Ferrari and completely bend physics. The X5 M’s main selling point beyond these ridiculous performance figures is its practicality, with the rear seats up top, the car having 650 liters of trunk space, and 1,870 liters with the seats down.
A car of that size and with such a large and powerful engine is not fuel-efficient at all. BMW rates the car at 21.1 – 20.8 mpg, which is much worse than the X5 M50i. When BMW gave the X5 division to M, they included the upgrades they used to make; M Sport quad tailpipe exhaust, which has 100mm exhaust and can adjust the sound from inside the cabin. This car has sufficient stopping power provided by the M compound brakes as well as to make the car reach top speed in all conditions of the BMW Xdrive system.
To match the model’s luxurious leather interior, the engine is mated to an eight-speed Steptronic gearbox. These many cars are not cheap; BMW lists an on-the-road price of $114,100 before options. The Stylish X6 M Competition has a slight edge over the more practical Sports Activity Vehicle, but with 580 liters of luggage space and 1,530 seats under, the X6 is a much more practical car that shares the same basics.
The current GO5 X5 launched in 2018 alongside the new 5 Series, with the X5 M following in 2020, so for a high-end car, no major revisions are yet to come. According to the BMW Blog, this year’s standard X5 sees an increased number of options for buyers with the M Sport package, third-row seating, in-car WiFi, and remote engine start.
The BMW Blog article points out that there have been no interior changes for the car, which makes perfect sense as the current generation of BMW’s iDrive system is the benchmark for much of the car industry, but two colors will be added for the exterior, Sparkling Brown Metallic, and Dravit Gray Metallic.
As a result of the chip shortage, all X5 miss out on wireless charging, which for many luxury SUV drivers will be a minor inconvenience. Importantly, it’s not a great display for the manufacturer, especially when more affordable Volkswagens like the Polo can still offer wireless charging.
In August, the BMW Blog speculated on a 2022 facelift with a larger front grille as is the trend in BMW’s current design language, but this is offset by increased air intake sizes that make for an aggressive front look that’s just right for such powerful power. vehicle. In another report, Yes Auto published a partially disguised spy shot of the X5 M. With camouflage only on the front of the car, BMW seems to be testing a new front bumper or grille design.
The German marque may be testing other controversial dual kidney grilles such as those on the M3 and M4. This BMW test mule isn’t for the 2022 model year, with examples already driven on YouTube, proving that the car is as muscular as ever. It looks like a midlife facelift will be on the cards for the X5. The previous F15 models didn’t receive a facelift, but it’s not uncommon for BMW to revise their cars with sales over the past five years or so.
2022 BMW X5 PHEV
After a two-year break, the second-gen BMW X5 hybrid returned last year with further developed performance and definitely better than ever with a bigger battery and a whole bunch of new standard elements. Driven by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six module cross-breed system, the X5 xDrive45e has a combined framework of 389 power and 443 lb-ft of power allowing it to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in the manufacturer’s stated 5.3 seconds.
As far as the average size luxury hybrid SUV goes this PHEV can handle an incredible 7,200 lbs towing limit. Additionally, with a combined 50 MPGe and 30-mile all-electric range competitors such as the Volvo XC90 Recharge and Lexus RX Hybrid can enjoy the benefits as far as lower initial costs.
Changes to the BMW X5 Hybrid 2022: How is it Different from the BMW X5 Hybrid 2021?
For the 2022 model year, the X5 Hybrid sees small changes, the most notable of which are increased options and bundles.
2022 BMW X5 M
The 2022 BMW X5 M, with its 600-plus horsepower and track-tuned chassis, was bred for hot laps, but will most likely be seen making lukewarm laps in mall parking lots. That’s because the wildest version of the mid-size BMW X5 can be a crazy machine one second and a luxury family carrier the next. While the design is not as bold as the rear-sloping X6 M, the cargo area is larger, and both body styles have an upscale cabin with rich materials and the best of features.
They also share a mighty twin-turbo V-8, a great automatic transmission, and a rear all-wheel-drive system. With performance-optimized and regulated by BMW’s legendary M division, the X5 M’s acceleration, cornering grip, and stopping power all go against the laws of physics. That’s why few people won’t blink at its six-figure price tag or complain about its rigid ride. The rest will refer to the more traditional BMW M5 sedan.
- Great power allows for a thrilling takeoff, weight barely affects agility, the promise of a luxurious interior.
- Sensitive types won’t like its hard ride, penny-pinchers won’t like its high price, purists will prefer the M5 sedan.
- With over 600 horsepower and staggering athleticism, the X5 M pushes the boundaries of physics with its incredible performance.
For 2022, BMW is making minor changes to the X5 M that include adding improved Bluetooth technology to each model and removing wireless device charging from the standard feature list. Other minor changes include a new Dravit Gray Metallic exterior paint, Silverstone Extended Merino leather seats, and a revised options pack.
Price X5 M $106.895
We would suggest spending additional coins for the Performance-supporting Competition pack. Notwithstanding the additional power, it comes standard with a rambunctious exhaust framework, select Track mode, and bigger distance across back tires and tires. It likewise brings better cowhide upholstery and includes padding the sides of the mid control area to forestall swelling your knees during hard cornering.
Engine, Transmission and Performance
A monster hides under the hood of every X5 M. The 4.4-liter V-8 hiding there has two forcibly air-fed turbochargers that make 600 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. The Competition Pack adds 17 more ponies. Each X5 M uses an eight-speed automatic transmission and a variable all-wheel-drive system. The latter allows the driver to choose between maximum traction at all four wheels or additional agility in rear bias track mode. A set of 21-inch wheels and adaptive dampers are standard equipment.
However, those who want a set of staggered rollers with 22 inches at the back have that option too. A larger rear wheel is standard with the Competition package. Our drive for Competition-equipped models impresses with sports car-like grip on corners and stunning acceleration.
Real-World Fuel Economy and MPG
It takes a lot of fuel to make the kind of horsepower the X5 M produces, and that shows in the EPA fuel economy ratings. The X5 M delivers about 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway. We haven’t evaluated real-world highway mpg on our 75 mph fuel-efficient route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen. For more information on the X5 M’s fuel economy, visit the EPA website.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The interior of the X5 M is beautifully laid out and equipped with a myriad of features one would want. The 12.3-inch full digital gauge cluster is located behind the leather-wrapped steering wheel which also houses a pair of paddle shifters and a red M drive mode dial. Ambient interior lighting, large heads-up display, heated steering wheel, and front armrests, and cool materials are all standard.
Those who want more luxurious leather upholstery, massage front seats with heated and cool cushions, heated back seats, and more can add them for extra cash. There’s no shortage of passenger space in the front and rear seats, and the cargo area is large enough to accommodate 11 carry-on luggage in the back row.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Every X5 M has a loaded infotainment system and countless connectivity features. The company’s iDrive software is displayed via a 12.3-inch touchscreen that can also be controlled with hand gestures, voice commands, and a rotary controller on the center console. While Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the Harman/Kardon audio system are standard, the Bowers & Wilkins sound system is a standalone option.

2022 BMW X5 Facelift
Renderings of the Facelifted BMW X5 M 2022 Show Subtle Enhancements. Nearly three years after its market launch, the BMW X5 G05, and its M model, are gearing up for a facelift. While the previous-generation F15 model didn’t really get a facelift, this new one will follow in the footsteps of other BMW models. It won’t be a major facelift, but rather some small and meaningful upgrades that will enhance the already good look of the popular crossover. The latest spy photos show the new headlamp design, as well as some other improvements to the front fascia.
Based on that spy image, the folks at @magnus.concepts have decided to illustrate the LCI X5 M. As you can see in the image embedded here, the inside graphic of the headlights features upturned eyebrows. The lower front-end has also been redesigned to include larger air intakes and curtains. There is also a front lip, specifically for the Competition model.
The biggest changes are saved for the cabin. Previous spy photos showed the large screen seen in the BMW iX flagship SUV, featuring a curved design that stretches across the entire dashboard. We also expect to see a series of technological upgrades, from the driving assistance system to the new BMW iDrive 8. Skin trims and upgrades will definitely be available as well.
We don’t expect engine changes. Powering the X5 M Competition is the same twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine as the X6 M. It makes 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, which is the same amount of power as the BMW M5 Competition. So very fast, almost too fast for a big and heavy SUV. Though, it’s neither faster nor slower than its X6 sibling.
Pricing for the current model starts at $105,100 for the X5 M and $114,100 for the X5 M Competition plus $995 Dest. But it remains to be seen whether the recent chip shortage will increase the base price of the car in 2022.
2022 BMW X5 M Sport
Designed and engineered by the legends in the BMW M, this muscular SAV showcases its impressive attributes. The optional Competition Package increases engine output to 617 horsepower, and adds an M Sport Exhaust System, glossy black exterior trim, and more.
The Live Cockpit Professional standard sets a higher standard for connectivity, with an extended high-definition M-specific digital display. Available 21″ and 22″ staggered wheel configurations achieve optimal levels of handling and balance with improved grip, while ensuring a solid presence.
Designed to dominate. Engineered to excel. The BMW X5 M 2022 combines the power of high performance with the versatility of an SAV. Put out up to 617 hp with the available Competition Pack – and feel a new wave of confidence. The race-demonstrated cooling framework in the M TwinPower Turbo V-8 motor incorporates four water siphons, six radiators and a committed transmission cooler.
The 8-speed M Sport transmission adjusts from smooth to forceful with the three-stage Drivelogic shift framework. Manual moving with paddle shifters mounted on the directing wheel allows you to take full oversight.
Superior execution smoothness – combining M xDrive with 4WD and 4WD Sport and M Differential modes – sets the norm for better control with better results. The Standard Adaptive M Suspension Professional offers precise directional reaction and inflexibility of the body with a movable ride mode. Choose between COMFORT, SPORT or SPORT + to go from a relaxing ride to an energetic experience.
The standard 6-cylinder front M compound brakes never disappoint with their forceful slowing down execution and shocking showcase. Penetrated ventilated circle brakes give most extreme cooling and solidness. The 2022 BMW X5 M raises the inside plan to a close-to-home level while holding an outside that accepts activity.
- Courageous.
The huge front air admissions and the definite twofold bar M kidney grille demonstrate that a vigorous plan puts execution at the bleeding edge. - Performative.
Overwhelm with an M-explicit rooftop spoiler that coordinates wind current, while the wide back position and quad exhaust parade unadulterated physicality. - Ergonomic.
The standard M Multifunction Seat with movable settings offers genuine horizontal solace, while the enlightened identification adds a dash of extravagance. - Serious.
The accessible Competition Pack adds polished dark components, like a grille, mirror and identification, for a more outrageous persona.

The standard Live Cockpit Professional and Head-up Display on the BMW X5 M features a lap counter with important information such as shift and navigation indicators, in a bold M-specific design.

BMW X5 Redesign 2022 Hydrogen Fuel Cell
BMW has been tinkering with the hydrogen vehicle idea for years and the Bavarians even trialed the 7 Series fuel cell during the mid-2000s. They will do the same with the current generation 2022 BMW X5 as the mid-range luxury SUV will spawn a limited hydrogen derivative in 2022 to serve as a testbed.
I Hydrogen Next was previewed last September at the Frankfurt Motor Show and now BMW is willing to share more details about the alternative powered X5. Speaking of power, the total system output – including power coming from the newly developed electric powertrain together with the iX3 – will be a respectable 369 horsepower (275 kilowatts).
The fuel cell system itself produces 168 hp (125 kW) of electrical energy as a result of a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen from the surrounding air, with the vehicle emitting only water vapor.
There are two 700-rod tanks with six kilograms of hydrogen each that can be refilled in 3-4 minutes, so it will take almost the same time to refill petrol or diesel. While the X5-based I Hydrogen Next slated for 2022 will only be a pilot program in a small series, BMW aims to make fuel cell technology available on a wider scale by introducing production models after 2025, provided there is sufficient demand and market conditions will prevail. make it possible.
Toyota is involved in the project as the two companies have collaborated on a fuel cell powertrain system as well as scalable modular components for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles since 2013. The Japanese manufacturer has been selling fuel cell cars for a long time considering the Mirai came out in 2015 and will enter the second generation at the end of this year.
Rumor has it that BMW is interested in launching the hydrogen-electric X7, but it is too early to know for sure as the German manufacturer believes current conditions are not yet suitable for a fuel cell production car.

2022 BMW X5 Changes
Redesigned for 2019, the BMW X5 2022 remains relatively the same except for the lack of wireless phone charging and touchscreen functionality due to chip shortages, at least early in the model year cycle. Operators can still use voice commands, console controllers and steering wheel controls to navigate the infotainment. They will also get a $500 credit until widespread issues are resolved.
The limited edition X5 Black Vermillion paints the X5 xDrive40i with black and red accents on the grille, brake calipers and interior accent stitching. It uses 22-inch gray alloy wheels.
Otherwise, the X5 blends into the luxury SUV landscape, not being fancy or bland. That’s not a bad thing compared to the caricatures other automakers—and BMW—are designed to stand out. The classic window creasing, twin kidney grille and rectangular exhaust liners remain, and the air intakes convey a sporty feel that the conservative body denies. The tone is uplifted inside, with warm leather and wood trim grades befitting a whiskey nest.
The hardest part about buying an X5 is deciding on the engine, whether it’s a mild-hybrid turbo-6, an inline-6 paired with a motor, or a three-way tuned twin-turbo V-8. All good and at least, the base 335-hp sDrive40i goes from 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds, the same as the 389-hp xDrive45e plug-in hybrid that has a 30-mile electric range. At best, the 617-hp M Competition launches to 60 in 3.8 seconds. However, the X5 can be as elegant as it gets, and with all-wheel drive on all but the base model, it’s gripping at all right angles.
On most models, i.e. not Ms, the X5 balances comfort and sport equally. The standard sports bucket seat with power adjustment features heating and support on the sides and thighs. The rear seats have plenty of legroom, but the optional third row is best left for cargo rather than people. Split power liftgates never get old.
Comfort is offset by guarantees such as standard automatic emergency braking, but NHTSA finds frontal collision protection lacking, while IIHS rates it as a Top Safety Pick.
The current generation BWM X5 is one of the best SUVs the brand has ever made. It looks good, has a great interior, and drives better than an SUV of its size. There’s really nothing the BMW X5 does badly. That is why this SUV is so popular with customers, making it one of BMW’s best-selling vehicles.
Current BMW X5 customers who wish to exchange their vehicle for the new 2022 model, or potential new X5 customers, should be aware that there will be several options and package changes for the 2022 model. Some standard features are missing, some are new, and some optional features have also been changed. .
Standard equipment
- Wireless Charging has been removed.
- Enhanced Bluetooth added for the 40i and 45e models.
Standard equipment suffers from a chip shortage, as the BMW X5’s wireless charging has been completely phased out. It used to be a standard feature on the X5 but now it’s not even an option. This isn’t the biggest problem, though, as wireless charging is slow and makes your phone so hot it’s hard to touch, but BMW’s wireless AppleCar Play always pairs really well, as there’s no need to plug in your phone. Now, you’ll have to model 2022.
Optional Packages and Equipment
- The Convenience Pack has been removed for the 40i model.
- Remote engine start, 4 zone climate control, wireless charging
- WiFi Hotspot + 3GB or 3 month trial, USB and Bluetooth upgraded
- Premium Package
- Convenience Pack contents have been removed.
- Executive Package
- Convenience Pack contents have been removed.
- M Sports Package
- The 2-axle air suspension option has been removed for the 40i model.
- The 3rd row + rear air suspension option was removed due to the 40I model.
- New Climate Comfort Package added.
- Front & rear heated seats, heated armrests and steering wheel,
- 4 zone climate control
- The 2-axle air suspension has been removed as an individual option.
- Glass Control added as an individual option.
- Front & rear heated seats are removed as individual options.
As for the optional packages, some packages will be removed from the BMW options list. For example, the convenience pack is missing for the X5 xDrive40i. However, its four-zone climate control returns with a climate control package, which also adds heated front and rear heated seats, and heated armrests. However, several other options have been removed, which can be frustrating for customers.
No interior trim changes.
- In terms of color, the BMW X5 gets two new exterior colors but no interior trim changes. Both colors are nice and match the X5’s handsome exterior.
2022 BMW X5 Specs
The 2022 X5 is offered with one of three different powertrains, each associated with a different model. The X5 sporting the sDrive40i or xDrive40i badge is powered by a 335-hp turbocharged inline-six. The plug-in hybrid xDrive45e comes with a turbocharged inline-six and an electric motor that produces 389 horsepower.
On our test track, that powertrain motivated the X5 to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. (We’ve also tested the 40i—it manages to sprint 4.8 seconds to 60 mph.) Lastly, the 523-hp twin-turbo V-8 engine of the M50 lets it go to 60 mph in under four seconds. Each of the three powertrains are matched with an eight-speed programmed transmission, and neither of them will leave the driver needing power in practically any driving circumstance.
The X5’s smooth ride and stable dealing with are large enhancements over the past age model, similar to the guiding, which feels more associated and direct, yet at the same time not exactly as energetic as we’d might suspect. The Q7 still has an X5 beat in this area, but it’s a close match.
Throw the X5 into fast corners, and it defends reliably and rewards drivers with the predictability that the GLE class loses. And if you need tow, know that the X5’s maximum towing capacity is 7200 pounds, no matter what engine it has.

The massage seat, remote starter, smooth close entryway, acoustic glass, cowhide dashboard, and warm front armrests and adjustable wheels can all make the X5 feel like a high-end luxury SUV but add a lot of prominence in depth. Discussing the expensive options, buyers can add a sound frame that includes Bowers and Wilkins highlighting gem dome tweeters. The X5 offers ample cargo space.
With the rear seats in use, we found a way to fit our 11 portable suitcases behind the next column of seats. 2022 BMW X5 Black Vermilion Edition
A huge commercial success since its launch in 1999, the BMW X5 is now getting a frightening special edition in Europe and the United States (US) to increase the appeal of the luxury SUV. In the picture is a hot version of the M50i intended for the Blue Continent. Meanwhile, the North American region will get a lower xDrive40i variant (about 350 units planned).
So, what’s so special about this new Black Vermilion? In addition to the visible red vertical bars on the grille, this premium midsize SUV is also covered in a sweet Frozen Black Metallic paint from the BMW Individual portfolio.
The black theme continues on the contours of the grille, and features 22-inch alloy wheels in dark gray with a matte finish. Finished in red, the brake calipers are part of the expanded M product range, including the M Sport Package, adaptive M suspension and M Sport exhaust.
However, the latter is only available for the Euro-spec M50i, as the US-spec xDrive40i doesn’t have that feature. To sweeten the style, BMW also presents full LED adaptive headlights with laser technology.
The Black Vermilion special edition enhances the list of standard equipment on the inside, where the X5 gets a heated steering wheel, heads-up display, remote engine start, and a Harman Kardon audio system.
This limited SUV also has a luxury glass shift lever and start button, plus the M-branded Alcantara headliner. Not available on the xDrive40i, the leather dashboard and carbon fiber interior trim give the European version a classy style.
All cars will get an inside and out look dominated by black with contrasting red accents, plus the “Edition” logo on the cupholder cover. This special SUV will cost you $82,300 (plus $995 in destination fees), or about $20,000 more than the standard xDrive40i on which it is based.
For US customers, that kind of money could buy you a more powerful M50i for just another 500 dollars. But, definitely not a special version like in Europe. Those interested in getting behind the wheel of the X5 Black Vermilion should know that BMW will start production at the Spartanburg plant in September (US version) and finish in December.

2022 BMW X5 M50i (Engine Explanation)
By 2021, there are now three different powertrains, each associated with a different X5 model. The X5s which wear the sDrive40i or xDrive40i badge is powered by a 335 hp inline six-cylinder. The xDrive45e plug-in 2022 BMW x5 hybrid comes with a turbocharged inline-six and an electric motor that combines to produce 389 horsepower.
(We tested the 40i – it managed a fast 4.8 seconds to 60 mph.)
Finally, the M50i 523-hp twin-turbo V-8 allows it to go up to 60 mph in under four seconds. All three powertrains are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and neither of them will leave a driver wanting power in almost any driving situation.
The X5’s smooth ride and stable handling is a big improvement over the previous generation model, as is the steering, which feels more connected and direct but still isn’t exactly what we think of as a sport.
Q7 still has an X5 beat in these areas, but it’s a tough match. The X5’s pitch into corners is fast, and it holds up reliably and rewards drivers with the predictability that’s missing from the GLE class.
And if you need to pull up, know that the X5’s maximum crane capacity is a solid 7200 pounds, no matter what engine it has. The xDrive45e model comes standard with a 24.0-kWh battery pack which BMW claims is good enough for electric driving of up to 30 miles.
The X5 can use a battery to go up to 84 mph without touching the petrol engine. The battery pack can be charged at home to a 110 volt or 220-volt outlet or at a public charging station.
2022 BMW X5 MPG
With six inline cylinders, the X5 is as fuel-efficient as the four-cylinder-powered GLE-class version and is slightly less fuel-efficient than the four-cylinder Q7, according to the EPA.
With the V-8, the EPA rating has dropped dramatically but still matches the supercharged V-6 variant from Land Rover Discovery.
2022 BMW X5 Price
We love saving money aside almost as much as we love the great performance of this car and that’s why we think the xDrive40i is the right X5 to buy. With a speed of 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, this vehicle has a sports car speed boost. This car is also equipped with an all-wheel-drive and is quite economical and inexpensive in this expensive class.
We recommend adding the Premium package bundle for front and center consoles, automatic climate control with four zones, capability in remote engine start, and a stereo sound system from Harman/Kardon.
2022 BMW X5 MSRP
- sDrive40i $60,395
- xDrive40i $62,695
- xDrive45e $64,695
- Black Vermilion Edition $83,295
- M50i $84,095
2022 BMW X5 For Sale
Sold in five ways, the X5 SUV ranges in price from $60,000 to nearly $120,000 with the excellent X5 M Competition. At $65,000, the X5 xDrive45e plug-in hybrid is probably the best value, only $2,000 more expensive than the xDrive40i and having the same feature set, more horsepower, and better efficiency.
If you’re going to spend all-wheel drive from the base sDrive40i, consider the plug-in hybrid xDrive45e. At $64,695, that’s $2,000 more than the same-equipped xDrive40i.
For all the power and almost no compromise, go for the X5 M for around $107,000. To squeeze 17 more hp on the larger 22-inch two-tone wheels, it will cost you another $9,300 for the X5 M Competition. The $2,600 Executive Package adds heated and cooled cupholders and massage chairs to get the price up to $120,000.
